"why would I need new cylinders if mine are dune ported?" it has to do with the port work ! when you port a motor you are raising and lowering the ports so I dont think that you can just throw a 4 mill crank in because then the ports will be off ! Im not excatly sure but wildcard knows what hes talking about ! if I was you I would save for a crank and find a good used cub cylinder like titan said ! thats gunna be your cheapest way to gain lots of horse power , also what gears are u using? are u leaving in 2nd gear? with your set up you should be able to beat that 370 IMO who did your port work ? my stock stroke with a simular set up was dam fast !

i dont think I can get enough money for a cub setup.... that's a bit of money right there.
and I know what your talking about with the ports... the timing would be all weird. i'll talk to my builder today... i'm droppin 2nd at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and last time we tied like striaght up... at a 5.6 which isnt my best and neither was that reaction time my best reaction time saturday was .6 and I ran a 5.7 cuz I missed the shift into 5th. and my best time was 5.5 with a reaction of .9 but my all time best time has been a 5.4 with a .9 reaction. (my bike was runnin a little rich on saturday and i didnt bother to do much since I dont have any jets and i was too lazy to try the air screw

It has to do with the transfer timing and crank dwell. If you're dune or aggressive dune ported for your stock stroke you should be running between 126 to 130 degrees of transfer timing. Do to the longer crank dwell and added stroke of the 4mill that will put you at well over 130 degrees of transfer timing and you'd have a motor that hit hard in the mid but won't rev out. Unfortunately you can't easily add material to a cylinder especially in the transfer roofs. So more than likely you'll need a new set of cylinders to go for a stroker. A spacer plate would only make this situation worse.
FYI, if you call Andy at M&M he's got a lightly used 350 cub for sale for $900 with head, domes and pistons shipped. I'd bet he'd go $750 or so without the head and domes. You could run your T-5's with that for the time being and later upgrade to CPI's. But if you go that route you have to at least give me a chance on a sale someday for telling you about it lol. |

haha I might go through you as far as the crank goes, I'm trying my absolute best to save money so craigslist has been my best buddy lately. and you guys made me rethink the cylinder thing and I realized I could maybe even make money off my cylinders and get some virgin cylinders....
once again I need to talk to my builder and he wasnt available today so I'll work on it this week and get my plan pulled together so when the time comes for my topend within the next couple months I will have my plans all thought through and I'll just need the materials.

Bansheeboy, Didn't you just do a new topend a couple months ago?
You've mentioned that your going to do these engine mods when you replace the topend in a few months. Are you expecting that you'll already need a new topend by then? Or does your builder want you to do a new topend after so many hours?
