application by calling the front desk (760) 252- 6000 and request an event
application. Fill out the app giving the required information, provide a
Map, Insurance showing the BLM, Barstow Field Office as additionally
insured, medical support, and a plan of operation for your event.. Send in
your application with the required $95.00 processing fee and the estimated
fees adding up to $5.00 per participant or 3% of the Gross whichever is
greater. The hard part is controling the event. The event must be a
closed course. All vehicles must be compliant with California Law. They
must have a registration, green sticker. All participants must comply with
the California Vehicle Code (helmet, whips, etc) and must not ride the
vehicle outside of the closed course. The last 2 stroke event promotor
could not accomplish this and was baned from the public lands for five
years. Had a mandatory court appearance and paid a substantial fine.
Events may not be held on holidays. Holidays are too busy and and the
required support will not be available. This office has not had a great
deal of success with the two stroke people and would be extremely
apprehensive about permiting another event."

talk about bursting a big bubble!
sorry guys...
well, doesn't sound too horribly bad except for the part about the fees...that sounds pretty confusing. 5.00 per participant could get pretty pricy, without going back and reading the previous 8 pages while I should be working....is this something that would have an entry fee then to compensate for having to pay that to the BLM?

Was talking with John at Sandtoyz just the other day as a matter of fact. Word is that they are trying to get banshee wars goin again as two stroke wars. Says they are working with the FSA on it to arrange the details, hoping for this next year. I hope it happens!
