I beleive these may be the dunes that are are off limits to motorized vehicles. Wilderness.

Colorado does have the tallest dunes in north america.

hmmm i wounder if its all closed?
i had heard that at one time it was
ohv friendly...that probably changed.

Yeah those are the Great National sand dunes-no riding there, but they are huge. Only rideable dunes are the North Sand Hills in Walden CO. Kind of small, but lots of good tree shoots and hill climbs, especially during runoff season.

only about 700acres nice hill climbs but toooo many people on weekends

Where is it that you can ride at on these dunes? I have heard in the past you can but I have also heard that you can't and the one time we tried to we couldn't find where we were aloud to.

The rideable sand dunes are about 20 miles north of Walden Colorado. I can give you directions. Here are a few pics from menorial weekend this year.





This picture is of what they call "dead mans" Very steep wet sand, not many quads can make it out of here during run off, the sand is wet packed to almost vertical.
