With Dunefest right around the corner again, I thought I would do something helpful this year that I have been meaning to do for a few years now but haven't taken the time to. And that is, putting into words the previously unwritten and unspoken laws that used to govern all things in motion on and around Banshee Hill during times of high volume. In recent years, it seems many folks have introduced themselves to Banshee Hill, rather than having been formally introduced by someone who knows the drill. As such many of those enjoying Banshee Hill have never been introduced to the DO's and DO NOT's of the area. This has led to an alarmingly high rate of bad decisions made by the few who just don't get it...yet. To protect myself, my family and the traditions of behavior at Banshee Hill I present to you the beginning of what should become a living document shared with ALL those new to Winchester Bay.
DO: Understand that there are Up-Cycles and Down-Cycles * Up-Cycle - A string of folks who are ALL heading UP Banshee Hill * Down-Cycle - A string of folks who are ALL heading DOWN Banshee Hill DO NOT: Try to go against the grain of up-cycles or down-cycles DO: Stop to observe whether an up-cycle or down-cycle is currently, or about to be, in progress before beginning to ascend or descend Banshee Hill DO: Understand that Banshee Hill narrows to one lane approximately half way between the bottom and the top DO NOT: Cork the trail by engaging in a race to the single lane with a more powerful machine or a more aggressive rider than yourself DO: Yield to more powerful machines and more aggressive riders in time for everyone to safely merge into a single file line DO NOT: Cork the trail by unsuccessfully attempting to climb Banshee Hill with your girlfriend on the back of your already underpowered Yamaha Warrior DO: Understand that multiple opportunities exist for you to exit a side trail out onto the main trail of Banshee Hill into traffic DO NOT: Exit a side trail out onto the main trail of Banshee Hill into traffic

That is good info. It makes riding on a busy hill so much nicer if everyone just fallows the easy non writtin rules.

that video is good info for those that have never been. i found out what it was like yesterday. the little s in the trees is more of a left, right maneuver than it appears in the video. one can still get thru it pretty fast, but everyone that i saw had to lift to get thru it.
