Default Oregon National Forest Releases Travel Management EA

April 1st, 2010

BLUERIBBON COALITION LANDUSE UPDATE!

Umpqua National Forest Seeks Comments on Travel Management Plan EA

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

The Umpqua National Forest -- located in southwestern Oregon - is seeking public comment on its recently released Travel Management Plan Environmental Assessment (EA). The Forest Service (FS) is asking for your input during a 30-day public review and comment period, which will end on April 14, 2010.

The EA includes a no action alternative and three action alternatives for designating routes and areas for motor vehicle use on the Umpqua National Forest. Due to their large size, the maps for this project, and the EA, are located on the Forest's website at Umpqua National Forest - Projects & Plans. The 16 Motor-Vehicle-Use maps associated with the document will be on display in a conference room at the Umpqua National Forest headquarters, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The address is 2900 NW Stewart Parkway in Roseburg. Additional hardcopies of the document and maps are available for review at all Ranger District offices on the Forest and at public libraries in Roseburg, Canyonville and Cottage Grove.

Public comments are invited and should be as specific as possible. Please include your name, address, telephone number and organization represented (if applicable), and specific facts or comments with supporting reasons that the Responsible Official should consider in reaching a decision.

Send written comments to:
Clifford J. Dils, Forest Supervisor
Umpqua National Forest
2900 NW Stewart Parkway
Roseburg, OR 97471

Email comments to:
comments-pacificnorthwest-umpqua@fs.fed.us

Please put "Travel Plan EA Comments" in the subject line of e-mail comments. Acceptable formats are email message, MS Word (.doc), plain text (.txt), or rich text format (.rtf). Comments should include your name and address. Comment deadline is April 14, 2010.

For more information, please contact Scott Elefritz, Team Leader, at (541)-957-3437.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact BRC.
Thanks in advance for your support,
