It's actually quite funny that you ask that way. The official answer is that the blue section means that it's too loud for the Oregon Dunes but still at or below the state of Oregon dB level.

The reaosn it's funny you ask about "over but acceptable" is because the rangers don't write citations for anything under 100dB unless you're being an a$$hole.

For all you banshee guys out there with built bikes. I have a 472 supercub built by Cameron at Redline Racing. I am running big bore cpi's with cascade silencers with the quiet turn down caps and it is really quiet and makes great power. You can still beat your buddies and be somewhat quiet at the same time. I love loud pipes personally as "Loud Pipes Save Lives", however if I want my son to enjoy the same experiences I had growing up riding atvs you have to do what you can to keep riding areas open.

Option 1: Cooperate in such a way that we come to an agreement with the locals about what is realistically acceptable and ride the Oregon Dunes a little longer (ie: all the trails at the perimeter of all the dunes - since that's what's really on the table right now)

Option 2: Fight back in a losing battle and allow the locals to increase the "noise buffer", which is code for making the riding areas smaller by moving all the boundries in closer to each other (ie: closing all the trails at the perimeter of all the dunes - since that's what's really on the table right now)

I choose to play ball with option 1. It's not ideal but things rarely are. It's the best of the available options.
I understand your point here Senator but respectfully somewhat disagree...

If we cooperate it will quite down for a short period then be a hot topic later down the road. For the most part they won't be truly happy until there are no riders anymore.

FYI....Save the Riders Dunes along with others would love to see 1 Db for all 50 states whether it be BLM, FS or County...that way the Manufactures know what they have to hit for everywhere....I personally have now problem with hitting 93db with our MUzzy's, but I would rather see 96...I have helped at Sandfest and Dunefest with Db testing...96 to 98 is very doable.....
If your above that...ticket

We would not have the problem today if FS would have done there job with enforcement....IMO and several others that attend the 10c meetings...

Hey Barb I understand your logic... but you seem to be a logical/ rational person and the majority of the people who appose riding are not.

Lets just say hypothetically we compromise and say 93db is the standard (I know it's the current law). They win and in a decade when the topic hits the table again we will be expected to compromise once again until there is none left.

I've seen these tactics happen in the planning process over the years, you agree with these groups only to have the standard change the next time you sit down to the table and they want more. It's very difficult to get anything back.

I don't much care for the noise of the 100db systems and fully agree with you but 96db is both doable but below the nascence level IMO and also illegal in the dunes though it doesn't effect anybody.

that sucks man. People run straight stingers on their drag bikes here. Supposed to have sparkys but no one cares as long as it's registered and your not drunk.

I would have to disagree with you on this one mrs. senator. Out of line are people who thinks its ok for there government to regulate them to the point that you have to worry about buying a product that may or may not get you a ticket based on the exhaust you choose to run. Out of line is buying real estate that borders ohv trials and bitching because you dont like the noise or the traffic. If you take a good look at that list only 25% of the pipes listed passed the db test. Thats OUT OF LINE if you ask me. I agree that people should not run open exhaust with no silencers, but at the same time 93db is out of line. We keep giving and giving and they keep taking and it really pisses me off. Ive been riding these dunes for 25 years and over the years they add more and more regulations and less riding area. Its just wrong and it concerns me to see people like yourself be ok with this type of governing, unless you are actually a senator then I could understand youre comment. Dont want a pissing match here and im not trying to call you out, im just upset that you are ok with this 93db because in a couple years it will be 91db then 89db.Ride safe D.J.
