Zilla hit on a key aspect with the part about possibly going bigger than you need. When we were into boats, they called it two-foot-itis, a condition in which you are plagued with the perpetual belief that your boat would be perfect if it were just two feet longer. No matter how many times you upgrade (read: sell the smaller one for a loss and move to a bigger one), you're still two feet short of perfect. It's maddening. And worse, very costly. Like a fool, I learned the same lesson again in this sport with trailers. We're on our 5th one since 2006. I feel a little guilty saying this because it sounds a lot like advice. But if I were to add up the money I would have saved if I had listened to the numerous folks giving me this advice, or taken it from myself even, I would cringe. So I won't. I'm not urging you to buy a bigger trailer, just to think hard about who may join your family, bikes you may build, cars you may haul, storage you may need or anything else that may pop up as two-foot-itis in disguise. |

Yeah thats a very good point. I would like to get as big as my Ridgeline will pull. I just called a local trailer place and they can build me a 8x16 insulated and everything for $5500....damn these trailers are expensive

Also, another lesson learned. To have a window put in at the factory (if you order your trailer) is about 100 bucks. To buy it outright is about $80 for the window plus installation time and costs. Then all the cutting through the inside and outside walls and the sealant and the time. If you intend to sleep in it, think hard about what it might feel like to hear a noise outside and not be able to see what it is. Sleeping in a windowless trailer is aweful. A hundred bucks up front per window was better than 100 bucks plus time and bother later. |

AMEN Senator, you and I are on the same daymn page, exactly!!!!!!!!
YES YES YES, get the damn window also, I am kicking myself, you can't just buy a window and put it in, I'd kill for a window in mine. You have to remove the inner panels, frame it out of 1inch tube, and cut the bracing out, lots of work, when they can do it upon building. and 5500 for that trailer is TOO MUCH, if you have the time, search ebay, craigslist, racingjunk, all the sand forums, etc. and you can find a deal. I paid 5k out the door for my 20ft enclosed car hauler, and like them or not, the V nose is a nice addition. it allows for cabinet space and storage that keeps your floor for hauling bikes! how far you looking to drive for one, I'll help ya look! |

If possible I'd like to get one locally here in Salt Lake, but to save money I wouldn't mind driving a few hours to pick one up.

that is a pretty good deal, I'd take him 3400 CASH money, and see if he will take it, that would give you the money to buy 2 floresent 4 ft. lights and wire it in for that, and enough to tear the inside out and insulate it with 3/4 or 1 inch insulation. If you plan on sleeping in it at the dunes, it will come in handy, to cut down on the noise! I like it cause it isn't a standard white or black, has some color to it, and buy a 1 car garage floor epoxy kit and your set for his total asking price!
the wiring part is super easy, for the lights, I threw in an on off switch and 2-110 plugs to boot, but now I'm going with a 30 amp service, so I get to pretty much start over, but its pretty simple. |

check the tires closely also, if they are brand new, might be problems, if not you can tell if anything is bent or messed up by the way the tires wear. Also, check for signs of a tire blow out in the fender wells, so nothing is bent in there.
Ask if it comes with spares, I carry 2 that I mounted on the fender wells with the pit pal spare tire holders, 1 is good, but on a dual axle I've seen them blow one out, and ruin the other tire with it. |

Don't be afraid to make offers to anyone. A dealer ship marks things to thier highest ability becouse ppl with lots of money will pay that. Also you may want to check out White Brothers out here in Nephi. They make really nice trailers and keep their prices really low. It's family owned and built. Thats where we are buying ours from. They have a whole list of goodies you can add as well. As far as size: I good way to look at is you may be thinking two bikes, But its an inclosed trailer so as your loading remember you will end up putting spare tires in there a tool box, a box of oils, coolers, spare parts camping chairs a table blah blah, So like the guys said before if everything on your list fits nice in a (10ft) in your head go (12). We almost went and bought one last year becouse the price was so nice but after a few measurements and the addition of two more bike's over the last year we would have been pissed.
